This list is not exhaustive – other bloggers do a fine job tracking all-time-high SUB offers.
This is a short list of cards that would be at the top of my list right now if I were a hypothetical beginner points hacker and under 5/24.
Best Card Offers for the Month
“Ending Soon” Chase Sapphire Preferred 100K UR offer.
The details: Get 100,000 Ultimate Rewards after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months. This is an all-time-high. Reports suggest this offer ends “soon” although no date has been given by Chase. The CSP comes with an annual $50 hotel credit for stays booked through Chase’s Travel portal, and complimentary DoorDash Dashpass. (Tip: Doordash has a gift card store with frequent discounts for Dashpassers). Annual Fee: $95.
You can get a Chase Sapphire (Preferred or the high-end Reserve) card sign-up bonus once every 48 months. If you’ve never had one, now is the best time to get it. If you have a Sapphire card and received a sign-up bonus >48 months ago, you might still have time to downgrade your card and reapply.
Capital One Venture 100K referral offer (or 75K + $250 public offer)
The details: Little brother card to the Capital One Venture X. Apply via a referral link (pay it forward) and you may find a SUB for 100,000 Capital One miles. The standard application page offers 75K miles + a $250 statement credit towards travel booked on C1’s travel portal. Annual fee: $95
The Venture X is the superior card, but the Venture is a good option if you’ve eyeing a specific trip with one of C1’s travel partners and don’t value Priority Pass or other perks that come with the X version.
Note that Capital One will pull all three credit bureaus when you apply for a credit card.
Vacation rental hack: Barclays Wyndham Earner Plus
Barclays Wyndham Earner Plus credit card has an elevated SUB of 90K Wyndham points after spending $2,000 in 90 days. Why would you want 90K Wyndham points? How many nights at the Ramada Inn does a reasonable person need? Because Wyndham points are redeemable for Vacasa vacation rentals. (Note that Wyndham is also a transfer partner for Capital One).
The WEP also has some nice bonus categories: 6X on gas, 4X on dining. The annual fee is $75.
Alaska miles backdoor stock-up opportunity: Barclays Hawaiian Airlines 70K offer
The details: Get 70,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles after spending $1,000 on a new card in 90 days. $99 annual fee.
While Bank of America is usually the only way in to the Alaska Airlines miles vault, the recent merger between Alaska and Hawaiian airlines means that those cheap and easy Hawaiian airlines miles can be converted 1:1 into the comparably rarer, more valuable Alaska miles. There’s been no news yet of what will happen to the Barclays family of Hawaiian cards, I’d grab this card sooner than later if you value Alaska miles and already have/are ineligible for the BoA Alaska card.
